A 4 year starter in at North Haven High School, Yavarone came right on to campus at Storrs and made an impact right away. Playing in all 59 games and starting 56, the freshman batted .270 for the Huskies, along with a .330 on base percentage. He had 7 doubles, 1 triple and 1 home run. Yavarone drove in 24 runs and scored 32 more. He was one of 2 players on this talented UConn team to play in all 59 games; Ryan Fuller was the other who started all 59. At North Haven, he was named to the All-SCC team, as well as CHSCA and New Haven Register All-State teams. Yavarone was also nominated to the Perfect Game All-Northeast second team as a senior. He is the son of Louis and Ann Marie, and has one sister, Jacquelyn.
