Selected in the 28th round of the 2009 MLB draft by the Seattle Mariners, Regan elected to attend Vanderbilt University. In his first collegiate season, the first baseman/outfielder batted .292 in 16 games for the Commodores. Native of Portland, Maine, Flaherty attended Deering High School. He led the baseball team to three state championships, including two straight undefeated seasons his junior and senior years. Named all-state and all-conference in 2007, 2008, and 2009. Three year selection to the All-Defensive team. Older brother Ryan was an All-American infielder for Vanderbilt and was drafted by the Chicago Cubs in the first-round in 2008. Dad Ed is an American Baseball Coach Association Hall of Fame inductee and two-time Division III national champion winning head baseball coach at the University of Southern Maine. Joins Commodores freshman teammate Anthony Gomez on the Mainers this summer.
